2007-2009 Elders of our Church
From left to right:

A Message from our old Pastor
There he was. I'd seen him and his brother huddled on their mat on
the side of the road several times in the few days I had been in
Kurnool India and for some reason they, among the scores of
impoverished beggars, had captured my heart. I new that anything I
could give would be appreciated but I also new that money would be
spent and then the gift would be ended and i wanted to give something
that would last longer than one meal. That was why I had decided that
I would give them my water. They would drink the water and then
refill the bottle from public faucets using it as a kind of canteen.
The boy was distracted whenI placed the bottle in front of him. And I
had walked perhaps twenty steps down the road before he even saw it.
When he did he just looked at it as if he couldn't believe what he was
seeing. Then he looked up and down the street to see who had given
him this gift. When his eyes met mine he beamed the brightest smile
and pulled the bottle to him like it was a precious jewel. Now he and
his brother would have water to drink while they begged in the hot
Indian sun.
As I think back on experience it occurs to me that God has placed
before each one of us a gift infinitely more precious and even more
necessary. God has given us the gift of the Holy Spirit to live in
and guide us, and strengthen us for every part of our lives. But do
we really appreciate how precious that gift is. Do we recognize that
in this gift we have been given a source of power and peace that will
never run dry and that will make the difference between life and
death, victory or defeat. Do we gaze in wonder and grab onto that
gift as the boy did with the water bottle.
John 1612,3 tells us that the Holy spirit will "guide us" to the
things of Christ and Acts 1:8 tells us that he will give us power to
be Christ's witnesses. I think its time we turned to God for a
filling of the spirit that will prepare us to serve him and finish the
work he has called us to do for him.
